News Update

095Here is my new web site.

http://faithfullyawaitingfritzelnumber4.com

I was having a little trouble getting things done on my last blogger account, so I decided to switch! It has worked so much better for me although I am still in the beginning stages…I have learned that I was right. I AM NOT TECH SAVVY! (Which normally I love saying that I was right, but not in this particular instance.)

In other news, I have learned that my 1st graduate practicum placement for my Masters in Social Work will be at a mental health hospital this fall! I am super excited! I will be doing intake assessments for ages 5 all the way up determining if there needs to be hospitalization, partial hospitalization, or outpatient therapy.  This is exactly what I asked for, so I am super excited. I will be working 30 hours a week for free, so that’s great too. (sarcasm included)

For those of you who may not know, I have spent the last five years of my career as a social worker in elementary schools and have been wanting more mental health experience.  The two years before that I worked with mental health patients through the state and before that I worked at a homeless shelter.  I love social work and although staying at home has been a big time blessing for me, it is going to be so nice to dip my toes back into social work practice, even only for a semester.  My plan is to get the first practicum under my belt before the baby comes.  It seems so surreal even saying “before the baby comes”.  I realize this sounds silly seeing that I have no idea when “the baby” is actually coming.  I don’t even know why I am putting “the baby” in quotes.

Speaking of, our next step is our seminar which was not scheduled until August 15th and 16th.  After the seminar will be our home visit.  Once the home visit is completed and approved we get to put our page together for the birth mother book.  Things are moving along, this time last year we were getting settled in our new house, now we are making plans to turn Owen’s playroom into a nursery. Poor kid’s not going to know what hit him!
